What is a rag doll?

Rag dolls are dolls that are soft unlike plastic or vinyl dolls that are difficult to maneuver. They are easy to cuddle and snuggle with, providing comfort and joy for any little girl. Cuddling with them when your little one sleeps or snuggling with them if your little one is not feeling well or unhappy. They are lightweight, easy to carry and travel with.

What are rag dolls made of?

Most rag dolls are made of hypo allergenic cotton fiber fill for the body and cotton blend fabric for the clothing. Some, not all, have plastic buttons for eyes. Mostly the facial features are embroidered.

What is the recommended age of a child for a rag doll?

Since most rag dolls are soft and have embroidered facial features the age recommendation would be 1 year and up. However, dolls with plastic-button eyes should be purchased only for a child who no longer has the desire to put things in their mouths, such as four or five years old. Just to be on the safe side.

How do you maintain rag dolls?

Rag dolls are made of fabric so they can be washed in the washing machine and air dried. It is recommended to use a laundry mesh bag to keep the hair intact. The hair is made of yarn. For dolls that have buns and different hair styles, just spot clean them when necessary. Do not put them in the dryer, it will ruin their hair!

Aren’t rag dolls out of fashion with the technology of today?

There are many benefits to rag dolls. They not only give joy to little girls but also they are unique, help develop fine motor and cognitive skills, they will be able to figure out how to take care of someone else, and how they interact with others. An example: if a child is being mean to your little one at daycare, etc they will take those actions out on the doll. It is a great asset to monitor how your daughter is being treated in places other than the home.
